Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid Lynx Alpha 3 screenshots

Most likely you are excited about the next version of Ubuntu, I know I am. The 3rd Alpha of the next version of Ubuntu was released a few days ago so I got some screenshots for you guys. It looks absolutely fantastic, and it runs even quicker than the last. The wonderful dark default theme and smooth interface really are a massive improvement on the last iteration of the OS, though it’s simple enough to change them around in System > Preferences should you want your old one (or one similar to your old one) back.

So take a look – everything runs just as quickly if not even quicker, and if you’re a coder, a Gumtree fan or just someone who uses it for word processing and the odd bit of image editing, it’ll work out perfectly for you. So I look forward to hearing what you have to say about it. I look forward to seeing the Beta, and getting it into more machines to see what it looks like. But back to the screenshots. Here they are:

If you want more though, be sure to check out this link: http://www.debianadmin.com/ubuntu-10-04-lucid-alpha-3-screenshots-gallery-updated-with-new-wallpapertheme.html.

They’ve got 29 screenshots and if this isn’t enough than hopefully that website will satisfy your screenshot needs.

I’ll cry forever if they really make it look more like Mac. I just don’t like Mac, and there’s really no reason in particular, it just rubs me the wrong way.

I hope the new black theme is a work in progress. I really don’t like it. The wallpaper is nice, that’s about it.

to get the themes in karmic, toy should do the following:

    1. add this to your sources.list: ppa:nilarimogard/webupd8
    2. sudo apt-get update
    3. install/update following packages:

    gtk2-engines-murrine
    ubuntu-mono
    light-themes
    gtk2-engines-aurora

choose either ambience or radience theme, log out and log in.

Ubuntu themes are always so ugly. I hate the use of orange, brown and purple. Their designers must be color blind.

  9. TWIL says:

chvnx: I’m inclined to agree about the purple. personally I’m more into blue/green, but I know Fedora uses blue by default and Suse uses green. Perhaps they’re trying to set themselves apart.

  10. GS says:

Didn’t tested Lucid Lynx yet but doesn’t look back. I like the changes.

  11. Kristopher says:

you guys need to let it be, you probably don’t even use ubuntu 100%. If you like blue and green, then use fedora and vista. However you should never leave feedback for ubuntu again on the grounds that orange and brown are very kool retro colors that are eye pleasing and neutral. Besides there is always kde. Our main concerns should not be changing colors, but broadening our support spectrum.

Great post, I would recommend that you make it a bit handier to share this to some social media sites, throw up a big add to stumble button or something in a few places that are obvious. No sense in making it too much work to add your stuff. Also, I really like your comment layout here, is it the default setup for your theme or did you customize it?
