[..YouTube..] Wow! A self healing G2… that makes me want to say, they are taking control, sucking out the open source in Android and just makes me want to blow up. It’s cool that Xorg will support Multitouch (although my laptop doesn’t have multitouch) for Synaptic Touchpads! Can’t wait for the release of 10.10 on Sunday!! :)

  2. [..YouTube..] wow a ad in the middle of the video. I’m not sure what to say about this.

  3. [..YouTube..] @someguy001001 an not a

  4. [..YouTube..] @FloobenShnooben what???

  5. yountua says:

[..YouTube..] wow a commercial, some must be getting a nice check from youtube :) you deserve it. love the show

  6. kn100kn100 says:

[..YouTube..] Yay jordan mentioned something I talked about in the live stream

  7. [..YouTube..] @someguy001001 You typed, “wow a ad in the middle of the video. I’m not sure what to say about this.”. It should be, “wow an ad in the middle of the video. I’m not sure what to say about this.”

Not to be some grammar policeman…

  8. BitchMank says:

[..YouTube..] how do these android phones run after a year or two? I’m thinking of trying one out, but I want to make sure it’ll last long enough for it to be worth it….

  9. ttk1opc says:

[..YouTube..] I normally f5 those ads, but I actually support this channel so I watched it, if I randomly stumble on a video with one I skip it.

  10. FearedBliss says:

[..YouTube..] I actually switched to the T-Mobile G2 from an iPhone 3GS recently. It’s running pretty good the G2. I miss my high-quality apps on iPhone 3GS but the G2 is a good device. It’s the best Android device I’ve owned so far. As for the self-healing from root thing, eventually it will be cracked.

  11. Shakez76 says:

[..YouTube..] Another great show Jordan! Watching you on Archbang live usb right now. I think Arch is still king though. Archbang cant see my winblowz partition during setup. As much as folks dog on archlinux install…this aspect of it is automated. My grub menu is automagic and no config is necessary (besides removing the comments). Cant say that for Archbang…..yet.

  12. stmpoodle says:

[..YouTube..] What you said about Firefox sounds great! I use Firefox for everything, except my work laptop, which is Explorer.

  13. LevitskiSRGE says:

[..YouTube..] I like it how the tuxes are nicely arranged in the background exactly around your silhouette. =)

  14. spikespeigel says:

[..YouTube..] @stmpoodle you can use it on your work laptop as a portable app

  15. LinuxBruiser says:

[..YouTube..] Have you checked out the 10mb distro yet? Tiny Core is its name. BTW another great video. *Thumbs up*

  16. [..YouTube..] @FloobenShnooben Um OK.

  17. JimmaWetcha says:

[..YouTube..] @stmpoodle Don’t forget that the Firefox 4 betas are out right now; you can download the 64 bit version (Firefox betas are called Minefield), and actually install a 64 bit flash player on it now. Both are still somewhat glitchy, but you may wanna try it out.

  18. JimmaWetcha says:

[..YouTube..] @FloobenShnooben Don’t forget to capitalize the first word in a sentence too now. Just give it a rest, buddy.

  19. FrenicX says:

[..YouTube..] Excuse my newbness. I just got my G2. The tmo reps told me this will be ready for gingerbread (no i dont beleive everything a rep tells me) does this self healing doodad mean it can’t be upgraded too?

  20. librano says:

[..YouTube..] Now that the Firefox backend had been separated from the GUI, can we please have a Qt Firefox?

You sounded overjoyed when you were talking about the Augen tablets :P

    G2 fail!

  21. [..YouTube..] I really like your channel for linux. Great reviews, and information. Keep up the good work. =] -Distorted-
Ps: Do you know if altell has any smartphones with linux on it. Just curious because thats my phone provider.

  22. crunchy3neo says:

[..YouTube..] Do you know if Firefox will be coming out with a browser for the iPhone?

  23. Metal404Head says:

[..YouTube..] @crunchy3neo why did you waste your money?
    dont count on it brah

  24. hibbijo says:

[..YouTube..] That pithos bug might have helped them. Didn’t know about it until just now, and now im using it.

  25. [..YouTube..] Firefox has been out for a long time for maemo, if i’m not mistaken..
i’ve had FF on my n900 since i got it 2 months ago.
it’s pretty good… except it runs so slow if i have multiple tabs open…
i want to use it as my main browser, but that’s the only thing that keeps me from it..
    otherwise.. it’s pretty frickin cool..

  26. [..YouTube..] @crunchy3neo It’s not likely due to legal issues

  27. [..YouTube..] @crunchy3neo It’s not likely due to legal issues

  28. [..YouTube..] I’m very excited for FF4mobile…but the current beta is…EH
I had it crash the two times I used it
the screen would just go black and….well, nothing happened after that
so i didn’t even bother trying it anymore, and I uninstalled it *sigh*
I have an EVO by the way…so definitely not slow hardware…lol

I thought it looked really cool when it did work though
I couldn’t really get a feel for page loads or anything though
I guess I’ll wait for the 5th beta??? looool

  30. [..YouTube..] Wow…modern cell phones are faster than a 1999 computer.

  31. [..YouTube..] @JimmaWetcha I know… Sorry :( I was just kidding around too. Sorry to of bugged you.

  32. [..YouTube..] I hear about youtube and recordmydesktop. At first I thought, oh that’s great, but then I remembered…I still have to edit it in kdenlive. I hope kdenlive gets ogv support so I dont have to convert it first,

  33. [..YouTube..] What about ALPS devices? Isn’t the Synaptics driver supposed to work with the ALPS devices as well? I mean I have a Sony Vaio (the one I told I was going to buy, if you remember, on IRC) with an ALPS multitouch touchpad that isn’t even detected as a touchpad. Anyways, good thing I moved to openSUSE, I might profit from this sooner. :P

  34. [..YouTube..] systemD is coming with even faster boot time :O

  35. MegaManNeo says:

[..YouTube..] There’s a recordMyDesktop update in the tomorrow coming Maverick Meerkat?
Sounds good to me, just gotta hope it doesn’t just fixes some YT-stuff.

And tablet pcs called after coffee drinks? Cool… perhaps they’re also made for the usage as real tablets :B

Now, some good news again and otherwise… just a few hours left until Maverick gets released in its final stage!
    Yay! :D

  36. heydude09876 says:

[..YouTube..] hey Jordan, i have a question regarding rendering in kdenlive…

when rendering in MPEG-4 what are the advantages and disadvantages of 10000k over 2000k and the 2 pass setting?

and if i upload in 10000k+ will the average Joe be able to see it at a decent framerate?

  37. kev1zhong says:

[..YouTube..] I just wanted to let you know…I love your news updates. They are seamless, fast, to the point, insightful, concise, and just straight up awesome!

  38. MrDanielHen says:

[..YouTube..] Looking forward to 1.1 a lot. Hopefully it went through more QA this time, though. :/

  39. Emoobia says:

[..YouTube..] The light glaring off your glasses is a bit annoying.

  40. vhmbdc says:

[..YouTube..] @Emoobia i think you may have obsessive compulsive disorder or attention issues

  41. cheche says:

hi!i just want to ask about the video chat in gmail, linux is already available voice and video chat but how about the yahoo?…coz all my freinds using yahoo account the’re using windows…i hope that you guys will find the way for that yahoo …im using linux ubuntu 10.4 lts and im trying to invite everybody to try gmail but they said no time…im from philippines…thank you

  42. raket94 says:

[..YouTube..] how do i dualboot with windows so that windows is the primary operating system?

what i mean is that i want to be able to turn on my computer so that i can leave and do other stuff while it boots and it doesnt pick ubuntu within the 10 seconds so i have to reboot again.

  43. sidhartRON says:

[..YouTube..] @raket94 you should have used wubi to install ubuntu…
but you can use you windows partion and use the run command ..
    type in msconfig .
in msconfig click the boot tab and there you will have options to select you main os and also time to select the os :)

  44. MrDanielHen says:

[..YouTube..] My Ubuntu is not giving me a notification that I need to update to the Final, is this because the RC defines itself as a final?

  45. [..YouTube..] @thisweekinlinux I just installed Ubuntu 10.10(fresh) there is no drivers and the GUI lags…. so slow…

  46. Emoobia says:

[..YouTube..] @vhmbdc O.o, thats quite a strong thing to say. I said it was a “bit” annoying.

  47. vhmbdc says:

[..YouTube..] @Emoobia sorry… but there where a lot of diffrent things to pay attention at in the video :P

  48. t2491tom says:

[..YouTube..] Wow this video has very good lighting. I can’t even watch your old videos anymore. What does suck, though, is that I missed the live show!

  49. a111z says:

[..YouTube..] how will the g2 update if it resets to factory everytime?

  50. FKSTAR7 says:

[..YouTube..] Hi should i install desktop or netbbok edition on my acer 8930g laptop?.I have desktop installed at the moment everything works apart from my dvd player andcmicrophone for webcam. Please answer thank you.

  51. raket94 says:

[..YouTube..] @sidhartRON Hi, i’m looking at the boot tab but the only operating system that shows up is vista, no ubuntu or grub settings.
    Pretty weird

  52. [..YouTube..] @someguy001001 there was one in the middle? It should have been at the beginning only. I kinda like those because instead of having the ad at the bottom of the video the whole time, you have one short commercial instead. :/

  53. [..YouTube..] @yountua thanks. :) It’s actually an option they just recently enabled, so I was giving it a shot. not a clue if it makes a difference or not.

  54. [..YouTube..] @kn100kn100 orly? :P

  55. [..YouTube..] @BitchMank I haven’t owned one, so I’m not sure. :P btw, weren’t you mentioned on @stirfrytv? Congrats!

  56. [..YouTube..] @ttk1opc thanks so much. :)

  57. [..YouTube..] @FearedBliss The Android apps are getting better, it’s just a bit of a young platform for developers, I think.

  58. [..YouTube..] @Shakez76 Nice! I haven’t had much of a chance to look over Archbang yet, though I have looked at it once.

  59. [..YouTube..] @JimmaWetcha I’ve actually got 64-bit flash in 3.6.10 on Arch and Ubuntu. :P

  60. [..YouTube..] @LevitskiSRGE heh, I hadn’t even paid attention, just wanted to put them where I wouldn’t block them. :P

  61. [..YouTube..] @LinuxBruiser I have indeed, after I saw @sneekylinux talk about it. Thanks!

  62. [..YouTube..] @FrenicX that’s a good question. My guess would be a firmware update could somehow rewrite the ROM (though the whole idea of ROM kinda goes against that…)

  63. [..YouTube..] @librano heh, overjoyed. :P

Did I miss that, they separated the backend? I guess they’d have to to make it work better with android/maemo.

  64. librano says:

[..YouTube..] @thisweekinlinux I didn’t read it anywhere. I just thought that is what they’d have to do… coz Android is Java and Maemo is supposed to be Qt… though it will run GTK too. Still, the UI looks completely different from the desktop browsers… but with all the features it seems.

  65. librano says:

  66. librano says:

[..YouTube..] @thisweekinlinux I forget where I read this (it might be true or not)… but for a working crack to be made, they would need access to the kernel source code. And since it is under GPL… You get the picture… I thought it was funny.

  67. librano says:

[..YouTube..] @elnegrobembon Firefox on Maemo… are you talking about Fennec?

  68. [..YouTube..] @distortedtempo thanks so much. :) I’m trying to decide whether to start doing more live-action videos instead of so many screencasts at this point.

It looks like Alltell has merged with Verizon in select markets (like mine). However, on the front page of their website it shows the HTC Hero, an Android 2.1 smartphone. :)

  69. [..YouTube..] @crunchy3neo I’d honestly say no. sorry.

  70. [..YouTube..] @hibbijo a very good point. I’ve mentioned it before, but I haven’t made a video about it or anything. I might just do it now. :P

  71. [..YouTube..] @elnegrobembon I think it has been, yes, but I think the ff4 beta is new to it.
I’ve been interested in the N900 since I tried out a friend’s N800 a long time ago, but haven’t gotten my hands on one yet

  72. [..YouTube..] @TheLifeRuiner interesting. Hopefully it’ll get better, like you said. :P

  73. [..YouTube..] @TheMuffinManshow definitely. it’s even more awesome to think that our cell phones are lightyears ahead of the computers that took man to the moon way back when…

  74. [..YouTube..] @brokenthorn15 If it uses the synaptics driver, I think it would work with it. Not sure though. I don’t own any. :(

  75. [..YouTube..] @fighterpiolt1992 ah yes. :)

  76. [..YouTube..] @MegaManNeo the update should have been available before maverick was final. I made a screencast, but haven’t uploaded it yet.

  77. [..YouTube..] @heydude09876 the 10000k vs 2000k just has to do with the amount of data you’re streaming at any given moment. the 2-pass method optimizes the video a little, and leaves it just a little larger. The most important thing is to make sure you’re not trying to render higher than the video you’re starting from.
go to a terminal, run “ffmpeg -i filename” and it should tell you the video and audio quality.

  78. [..YouTube..] @kev1zhong thanks so much. :) with the newer lighting, it should be even more seamless. ;)

  79. [..YouTube..] @MrDanielHen same here. I was very pleased with Jolicloud 1.0

  80. [..YouTube..] @Emoobia hm. I think I had a similar glare in my older videos. It might be a bit more noticeable now, but I edited on it for over an hour and didn’t even pay attention to it.

  81. [..YouTube..] @raket94 If you installed Ubuntu the traditional way (dual-boot with Windows) you can edit Grub to set the Windows partition to be the default.
There’s actually an app you can install within Ubuntu called “startupmanager” that has a graphical configuration for Grub, so you can select Windows as your default if you want.

  82. [..YouTube..] @MrDanielHen If you were on the RC, it won’t actually let you know. Just do your normal updates (if there are any) and you’ll be good to go on the Final. :)

  83. [..YouTube..] @TheSniperofDeath seriously? What sort of graphics do you have? I’m running an Nvidia card, and it runs very quickly.

  84. [..YouTube..] @t2491tom thanks. :) I’ve still got a ways to go before I’m really happy with the lighting, but I don’t think this turned out badly

  85. [..YouTube..] @a111z that’s a really good question. I’d guess as a part of the update there has to be a way to rewrite the read-only part? though that doesn’ tmake any sense…

  86. [..YouTube..] @FKSTAR7 I think someone answered you on the other video, but the desktop edition would probably work best for everyday usage. If you get the desktop installed and want to try the netbook part, you can always install that on top of it.

  87. [..YouTube..] @thisweekinlinux the nVidia driver 96 and 173 is incompatible with Xorg… time to buy a new laptop…

  88. [..YouTube..] @TheSniperofDeath so you can’t use the newer drivers? I haven’t tried the older ones.

  89. [..YouTube..] @thejoesteiger I just tested it in Kdenlive (the 0.7.8 version from the Ubuntu PPA) and it seems it will at least show it and let me edit, but for some reason it’s out of sync when I do that. :/

  90. [..YouTube..] @thisweekinlinux I reboot it then the command line comes up and there is no GUI interface… I also tried Fedora 13 and once all the updates and drives are installed the boot screen freezes

  91. [..YouTube..] @TheSniperofDeath well that’s pretty crappy. is your system/card that old, that it wouldn’t be included in the newer drivers for some reason?

  92. [..YouTube..] @thisweekinlinux Yes, Its like GeForce4.No choice but to buy a new computer.

  93. [..YouTube..] @TheSniperofDeath Ouch. :( I’m sure there’s probably a way to optimize the system using the older driver. Have you done any reading on your specific card with that driver? (to go along with that, what card do you have?)

  94. [..YouTube..] @thisweekinlinux you mean audio is out os sync? My videos don’t have sound so I should be fine. Im gonna make a video in the next couple days. Gotta decide what it should be about.

  95. [..YouTube..] @thejoesteiger yeah, a bit. Not sure why. It didn’t really seem to be on the .ogv file. Strangely enough, the .ogv uploaded directly to youtube was still green, so perhaps the people at webupd8 were misinformed?

  96. Jucebox3000 says:

[..YouTube..] Man I got a question not about this video, I have two operating systems in my computer windows xp and ubuntu I went on ubuntu to upgrade to 10.10 after everything was done it restarted and when I choose ubuntu it shows only at the bottom grub- and at the top it tell u to press tab and to choose from the commands to complete the installation I’ve tried almost all of them but they don’t work how do I run this thing!

  97. MegaManNeo says:

[..YouTube..] @thisweekinlinux Good to know, but since I already got the upgrade it doesn’t really matter to me, anymore :D

Just gotta find some time to try it.

  98. raket94 says:

[..YouTube..] @thisweekinlinux Thank you very much, that did it! :)

  99. alabader741 says:

    [..YouTube..] Wazzzzzzzz up !
so, dude do you love penguin dolls or some thing LOL
WTF are taking about , i am sorry i didn’t finish the video it was very boring.
